MDS Coating Technologies Corporation, located in Slemon Park, Prince Edward Island is involved in the research, development, and production of a complete family of protective coatings for the aerospace industry. We have an immediate opening for a PVD Process Specialist and a Production Technician. We offer a very comprehensive benefit package.

PVD Process Specialist

General Responsibilities
• Optimize depositions of erosion/corrosion resistant coatings
• Participate in the development of new coatings and processes
• Assist in the design of PVD coating process equipment and processes

Qualifications
• Engineering or science degree in Physics or Material Sciences
• Strong knowledge of PVD processes, vacuum physics and physics of coatings
• Hands-on experience with PVD equipment
• Experience with coating characterization
• Understanding of engineering statistics
• Strong background in IT and programming (.NET, Labview, SQL)
• High attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills, team player
• Ability to learn rapidly
• Knowledge of quality techniques (Six Sigma) an asset

Production Technician

General Responsibilities
• Pre-coating surface preparation of components
• Responsible for the operation and maintenance of equipment and fixtures utilized for the preparation of components for coating
• Operation of Automated Cathodic Arc Physical Vapor Deposition Coating Machine
• Ensure that all paperwork and records meet customer contract requirements and job routing instructions
• All work is to be conducted under a strict quality process system

Specific Duties
• Assembly of substrates into fixtures
• Monitoring of coating parameters during production runs and record any applicable information required
• Responsible to follow specific processing procedures, and detect malfunctions or imperfections through surveillance of machinery and materials
• Must follow prescribed work methods or explicit instructions

Qualifications
• Manufacturing experience an asset
• Must be able to work in a team environment
• Must be well organized
• Ability to operate a Computer is required
• Ability and willingness to work shifts is required
• High attention to detail quality required
• Must meet requirements for Controlled Goods licensing
• Experience working in a quality assurance regulated environment required
